At Grow Centre we work together to plan, promote and execute many classes, art, teachings and community gatherings with elders, health care workers, the two spirit community and the lgbtqia2+ community in our region. We have folks travel from local, inter-provincial and from other countries to attend our workshops. Our workshops have included training hundreds of nurses, midwives and other caregivers in methods of supporting healthy birth. Indigenous and metis aunties support chest-feeding, breastfeeding and childbirth education, beading and sewing, through an indigenous way of being and supporting. Grow Centre has many classes taught by elders and aunties including ribbon skirt making, metis beadwork, moss bag making, moccasin making and more. These classes draw folks from both within the city and from other communities. We also host weekly nehiyawewin practice groups, and circles with Indigenous Birth of Alberta. If you have an idea you'd like to bring to the community, reach out to us to see how we can help.
